Celebrate Poetry Month in Santa Barbara County! The Office of Arts and Culture is proud to partner with our community to celebrate local poets, printmakers, and lovers of writ throughout April and all year long.
The City of Santa Barbara will install their new Poet Laureate at City Hall on Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m.
On the Blue Shore of Silence: Poems of the Sea by Pablo Neruda by Mary Heebner will open at City Hall on 1st Thursday, April 4 at 5 p.m. Students from Adalante school will join to recite poems from Mary's book. See Mary and her husband, artist MacDuff Everton, talk about art and love at the CAW on Wednesday, April 3.
City College Students will produce a Poetry Slam at Youth Interactive with artist Simon Kiefer on the keys.
Santa Barbara County will honor students from Pioneer Valley High School and Orcutt Academy High School with a National Poetry Month Resolution on April 9.
The Tiny Libraries on State Winner will be announced! Stay tuned for programming and public literacy initiatives from the Santa Barbara Public Library, Print Power Collective, Typewriters Unlimited and Santa Barbara Education Foundation.
